I have been following a zero carb carnivore diet for about 7 months now.
During my research into this particular way of eating, I came across an interesting extract of forum posts titled:
Throughout the information on this page, a man called Owsley Stanley (known as ‘bear’) discusses the all-meat diet in which he had been following for 47 years at the time of writing.
Reading his words, it became very clear to me that this guy was a genius and had in fact figured out the natural human diet and understood that the way we learn to eat is largely due to our social acculturation and culture. He talks about how we have strayed very far from what we were ‘designed’ or ‘evolved’ to eat.
Not only that, but I was fascinated at this mans incredible memory and understanding of human physiology, chemistry, psychology, alchemy and life. (In further research, I learned that Bear was known for his photographic memory and encyclopedic knowledge.
He named the zero carb diet the “natural human dietary regimen” and explained that the human’s digestive system is that of a carnivore and in fact not that of an omnivore or herbivore.
He discusses how carbohydrate foods and insulin release is the true cause of most people’s health problems today.
In fact, the original cure for diabetes was the Zero carb diet.
This basic knowledge has been hidden by the medical industry as they have been able to make fortunes selling the drug known as exogenous ‘insulin’. Removing all carbohydrates from the diet removes the need to release insulin, therefore eliminates diabetes. Owsley states that ‘diabetes is not a disease’, it is the bodies adaptation to excessive carbohydrate consumption over time.
Another very important piece of knowledge from bear is the fact that the ingestion of vegetation (fibre in particular) results in scarring along the mucous membranes of the intestines. This scarring increases the longer someone eats carbohydrates and is likely the reason older people struggle to absorb the nutrients from their foods although they eat enough meat. Therefore it is a mixed diet reduces nutrient absorption, whereas an meat alone is easy to digest and assimilate.
Through my research, observation and experience, I also have concluded that animal foods are the correct foods for humans.
Humans are hunters. Meat is food and plants can be used as medicines. Look at all indigenous tribes and you will find that all of them prioritise animal foods. Vilhjalmur Stefansson a famous arctic explorer details his experience living with these tribes for 10 years, eating only meat, in his book “The Fat of the Land”.
It is a fact that every single nutrient needed for human life is in meat, seafood, eggs and dairy; no plants necessary.
The most nutrient-dense foods in the world include Fish Eggs, Liver, Steak, Eggs, Raw Dairy, Animal Fat.
The bear (Owsley Stanley) is proof that plants are not necessary and can be detrimental to health. He followed an all-meat diet since the age of 23. He noted that as he got older, his body remained strong and did not age like others around him.
I am very thankful for the bear’s words of wisdom as it helped me understand the truth about nutrition and health. In a day filled with advertisers, marketers and snake oil salesmen with miracle cures everywhere, it is refreshing to find the very simple truth, with no fillers and no supplements necessary.
Owsley Stanley was a very interesting character who lived a very interesting life, well known for synthesizing and selling LSD to musicians in the 1960s and being the sound man for the grateful dead. He mastered many skills and professions throughout his life and was known to have an impressive memory and knowledge of almost everything.
It is his conviction that the all-meat diet allowed him to stay lean, strong and healthy into his old age. He even managed to stick to the diet whilst in prison by trading foods with other cellmates. I recommend his biography “The Life and Times of Augustus Owsley Stanley III” as it is a very interesting account of this fascinating guy.

Being healthy is as simple as eating the natural human diet, getting lots of fresh air, sunshine, exercise and good sleep. No fads, supplements or snake oil necessary
