A great man named ‘Muhammad Ali’ once said “Don’t Quit. Suffer Now and Live the Rest of your life as a Champion”.
There is a universal truth in this world that we live in. It is that short term pleasures give you long term sacrifice, whereas short term sacrifice gives you long term pleasure.
The desire to have the reward right now creates your long term suffering. It is only those who are willing to take the time to truly EARN the reward, that will reap the benefits in the long term.
A short term pleasure is like a drug. It gives you a tremendous high followed by a depressing low. That sugary food tastes nice today, tomorrow it tastes like diabetes. That alcohol feels good today, tomorrow it feels like liver cirrhosis. Buying things on loans is fun today, tomorrow you have the debt collector banging on your door.
As you can see, there is ALWAYS a catch to IMMEDIATE GRATIFICATION. Sure, have it now. But lose your soul tomorrow. It’s all fun and games, until it hurts. And i assure you, an excess of instant, unhealthy pleasures will fry your brain, destroy your body and leave you broke.
As Muhammad Ali did, he rejected short term pleasures. No alcohol, No masturbation, No drugs, No Smoking. Instead he trained and trained. He trained harder than the rest. What did it get him? He became one of the greatest champions in Boxing history, a man who will always be remembered.
Now compare that to average Joe who works in an office, smokes cigarettes, eats fast food everyday, watches movies and plays video games for 5 hours every night, getting drunk every weekend at the club. Is he going to become a success? Will he create a legacy? No, he won’t. He will likely suffer with depression, become obese from a sedentary lifestyle and poor food choices, potentially getting lung cancer from all the smoking. So was all that superficial satisfaction worth it? NO!
So who’s laughing at the end of the day. The one who had loads of fun NOW, then suffers with chronic diseases and mental illness for the rest of their life, Or the man who worked hard towards his vision today, made sacrifices to train at the gym and for the rest of his life he has a successful business, a great body and tremendous health.
Live cheaply today, whilst you build a business and tomorrow you will have all the money to do what you want. Or you could work a job you hate, spending all your money + credit card debt so you can have the toys today; then spend the rest of your life being a slave to your debts.
So, the moral of the story is to not be lazy. “Suffer Now and live the rest of your life as a champion!” Do not be a slave to instant gratifications. I say DELAY GRATIFICATION, because once you have TRULY EARNED IT, you will enjoy it 10000X More. Plus it will last a hell of a lot longer!
Until next time,
